Barkley Privacy Policy

We at Barkley Insurance & Risk Management appreciate the trust you have placed in us as your insurance broker and consultant.  In the course of serving you, we are given access to information that is often both sensitive and private.  We want you to know that we take the responsibility of protecting the information that we collect about you or that you provide to us. This notice describes our policy regarding the collection and disclosure of personal information.

We do not disclose any personal information about our clients, except as permitted by law. Protected Health Information (PHI) is defined as individually identifiable health information that is held or transmitted by our company in performance of our contractual obligations with clients. This type of information includes information in electronic, paper and oral form. Protected Health Information may be used and disclosed solely for our company’s business activities; e.g. health care products or services. Barkley may disclose all or part of personal information as permitted by law to non-affiliated third parties solely for purposes of servicing or processing an insurance product or risk management service that is requested or authorized, such as developing risk assessments and solicitation of quotes from insurance carriers.

We restrict access to nonpublic personal information about you to only those Barkley employees who need to know that information to provide products or services to you.  We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with federal and state regulations to guard your nonpublic personal information.  We also hold other business associates and our affiliates to similar confidentiality standards.  Your PHI and any other personal information about you shall only be used and disclosed in a manner consistent with applicable laws and regulations, contractual obligations, and our own policies and procedures.

You may write to us if you have any questions about the information that we may have in our records about you.  If you wish, you may inspect this information in person or receive a copy at a reasonable charge by sending us a written request.  You can notify us in writing if you believe any information should be corrected, amended, or deleted and we will review your request.  We will either make the requested change or explain why we did not do so.  If we do not make the requested change, you may submit a short written statement identifying the disputed information.  This statement will be included in all future disclosures of your information.  You may send your written request to us at:
